Reflections on Humanities' Benefits for Life During the Pandemic

This reflective exercise was developed by the National Humanities Alliance. It provides you an opportunity to reflect upon your experience of the coronavirus pandemic and ways you may have drawn upon the humanities to help you navigate the many challenges involved.

As you consider this question, please note that we think about “the humanities” in various forms, such as:
  • A range of academic disciplines, including (but not limited to) history, philosophy, anthropology, history of art, religious studies, literature, and languages
  • A network of institutions, including libraries, museums, state humanities councils, and other cultural institutions
  • A variety of activities, including book clubs, archival research, philosophical/theological reflection, watching documentaries, journaling, and discussing music, film, foodways, and other cultural products and practices
